A new coat of paint

Bags checked.

Quite a lot needed to be done around here… a new format, a new banner, new… stuff. Lots of newness needed.

I was thinking of abandoning having a place to scribble, but lately as life has returned to normal for the first time in four years, I find myself with a little extra time. SO - might as well write.

More to come later. In the meantime, pardon the dust around here.

The long welcome home: a rant

Where I used to be

FYI: Lanny is also blogging from Japan! She’s on LiveJournal here - feel free to add/friend/follow her escapades there. :D

My third time living in Japan has begun, and quite honestly, I never quite thought it would start out this way. I don’t mean that negatively, but damn, it’s weird where life takes you.

For starters, I now live in a much more expensive, crowded city - Tokyo. Comparing where I live now to where I used to live is like comparing Lincoln, Nebraska to Paris. The people, the prevailing attitudes, the price of everything… everything has a different flavor. The three other major differences are mostly personal; I’m here with Lanny now, working for a much smaller company, and living far more frugally than I was before. It’s a challenge, but it seems fitting - my Japanese skills have taken a hit in recent years, so it’ll be nice to work on improving those.

In addition, I’m hoping I can finally get around to updating this thing more - I’ve been in a bad habit of writing things that are either 1) so long I don’t finish them or 2) just plain dull. Here’s to finding a happy medium!

More to come!

Like a pair of ripped jeans

Chocoring! So: as you can see, we have a few more errors cropping up here and there. We have the fashionable photo bar back, but the page format is shoved under itself. So yes… think of the page as a pair of ripped jeans. Wearable, somewhat fashionable, but ultimately broken in one way or another.

Lots of posts from the road coming up, so stay tuned!

More posts coming… elsewhere!

In Japan, where Calpis and pink birds live!STATUS UPDATE!

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be heading over to Japan to do work/participate in the Tokyo International Anime Festival. So, I’ll be doing a lot of japan-related blogging. There’s one catch though:

I’ll be doing that blogging here.

So head over to ANN and say hi. I may still drop some fun stuff in here from time to time, but in the meantime, go there. Yoroshiku (and all that jazz).

SUPERGLUE

Well…. we seem to be broken.

Methinks I’ll be fiddling with this a little later, but I assure you all we’ll be back to normal soon.

Hopefully “soon” is sooner than 3 weeks. :p

State of the Donut 2008

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand we’re back. Well, sorta.

I’ve been blo… er, writing on this page for about a year now. Do I like this format better than having a LiveXangaMSCorporateEndorsedWhatchamacallit? Absolutely. Sure, the lack of comments and people saying “I don’t like to click on a link to some other page” (depressing how lazy we can be sometimes, yes?) is frustrating, but hey - the public nature of this format has forced me to improve how content is presented here, and I think that’s a good thing. BUZZ BUZZ CRACKLE

NO SOFT-WHARDue to lack of time/internet on long trip, we are experiencing technical difficulties. Please stand by.

10 Minutes: The Intro

Let the game begin!Hi everyone. Yes, I’m alive. The next three weeks hold quite a lot of stuff for me, including (but not limited to) tests, papers, and an anime con for work dropped right in the center of everything. The con really brings the schedule together… all we need is some reds and greens to accent it, thereby giving it a nice christmassy feel.

Last semester when finals got started, I simply shut down the blog. However, it’s become clear that I don’t need a break… rather, I need something positive and FUN to do that isn’t schoolwork.

So: I’ll be doing a series of “posts written in 10 minutes” posts to keep my mind from spiraling into madness. The posts will focus on a meaningless topic that you suggest. The result should be some interesting rants, and an interesting gaze into the mind of a man who has not slept for days. Golly, doesn’t that sound awesome?

If you want to participate, please suggest a meaningless topic of any variety in the comments. Topics such as politics, Anime and other stuff that has been the subject of debate/fisticuffs over the past few weeks are FORBIDDEN.

Rules:

1. Posts must be created and posted in 10 minutes or less.
2. Posts must include one link to something.
3. Pictures: Bonus points. The points mean nothing though, so just disregard this one.
4. All posts shall be served with the time, a list of what I’m doing at the moment, and warm dinner rolls (subject to availability and legality of dinner roll use in international territories).
I’ll get started a little later tonight. Should be good fun, really.

WE BE CLOSED

Oops. You gave it liquor.

CLOSED UNTIL FINALS ARE OVER
